So although we are still struggling with it, more and more companies and people realized that online marketing is usually much cheaper and definitely more rewarding than offline marketing. Lots of people and companies improved their online presence. This means a higher demand of web services, including web development and web design. And with WordPress being the most popular CMS out there, more and more developers and designers started creating new themes for it.
To sum it up, 2012 has been the year with tons of new responsive WordPress themes taking benefit from the new technologies (such as HTML5 and CSS3) and techniques. Also more niches came up so you can now find themes for just about any kind of topic your site or blog is about.
